The Medicine and Dentistry degree programme of studies is a long-cycle master's degree studies programme lasting 10 semesters. The programme for the first three years of study includes teaching in the theoretical disciplines of medical sciences. Students learn about the principles of ethics and are taught how to relate and communicate with patients. As part of Dentistry studies, students attend pre-clinical classes which prepare them for work with patients. In subsequent years, education covers clinical sciences. Numerous elective courses are also pursued in the course of studies, for example, in medical cytobiology and clinical disciplines that broaden the applicable scope of knowledge of the major subjects. It is also necessary to complete programme placements involving assisting a dentist and practice at a dentist’s surgery in order to pass the individual years of study. Graduates of the Medicine and Dentistry major receive a diploma and the degree of lekarz dentysta [dentist].
